Attributes of God--N

God is NEAR

Psalm 145:18
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Philippians 4:5
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

...and by extrapolation...

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

God is NOBLE--Noble means to be of high birth. The best "nobles" are the ones who are not only born noble but also act noble, living up to their family line and ruling with justice and righteousness. God is the Most High God, King over all creation. Jesus, Son of God, is King of kings and LORD of Lords.

Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.

Luke 1:30-33
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

James 2:7b
...the noble name of him to whom you belong...

Next up, O.

I love reading scripture Ruth. How are you enjoying your summer? The weather is not good over here in Ireland. Sean is currently attending a week long summer camp with Irish Water Safety where he is learning cpr, water rescue etc. He decided to go into the water today without his wet suit and we had to strip him and put warm clothes on him and give him hot tea in a hot car before he started to warm up. It took almost a half hour. Tomorrow he plans to wear his full length wet suit and a shortie over it!

Thanks for the comment. It is the first I received since I started this series of going through attributes of God alphabetically, so I wondered if anybody has been stopping in at all.

I would love if I had readers who would post their own thoughts on an attribute of God that starts with the letter of the day. I am getting scared about "y" -- don't know if there really is one.

Summer starts late (school goes until the end of June here--blech!) and flies by, but it has been a nice one and we've had quite a few weekends with gorgeous pool weather, so that has been a great blessing, especially after the very harsh winter we had.
