A few years ago I read "Kilmeny of the Orchard" by L.M. Montgomery and really enjoyed it. Someday I might reread the Anne books because it has been 20 yrs. since I last read them.

Winter doldrums are in abundance here too. I'll try the bed-making since shining the sink per the Fly Lady does not seem to help.Hope T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07861626818618433758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6394593369099711178.post-67913034331312944832011-01-29T11:34:21.933-05:002011-01-29T11:34:21.933-05:00If I were the only one in my family who drank kefi...If I were the only one in my family who drank kefir, I would buy Lifeway, too. I like it better. Smoothies are good with homemade kefir and frozen strawberries and bananas or peaches, but I think it is far more soothing to the stomach if you drink it plain, and I cannot stomach homemade kefir plain.

I have been reading women authors lately. I just read "The Blue Castle" by Lucy Maud Montgomery (author of the Anne of Green Gables books). It was quite a charming book, and I can't believe it hasn't been made into a chick flick. For all its predictability, I enjoyed it more than I ought to have. I didn't believe in the behavior it condoned, and I had an uncomfortable feeling that it was poking fun at people with convictions like mine (although I hope that I am authentic and not a hypocrite like the characters in the book), but for all that, I must admit that I liked it. It was a nice escape.

Maybe I will take a look at these authors you are suggesting. :)

I am thinking twice or three times about what I post here, just because I don't want to lose the rights to things I want to have the rights to. Maybe I will see about getting my own domain space where I have rights to my own material. Probably I won't, though. I have the winter doldrums... can't get motivated to do much anything beyond the daily cooking, laundry and kefir straining. And making the beds. Somehow, I feel so much better when the beds are made.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11093621296828810512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6394593369099711178.post-40526840931919992542011-01-28T14:31:32.349-05:002011-01-28T14:31:32.349-05:00Since I am the only one in my family who drinks ke...Since I am the only one in my family who drinks kefir, I buy the Lifeway brand at Giant. It would be nice to make my own, though, because then I could use whole milk. They only seem to carry low-fat at the grocery store. You have explained it thoroughly enough so that I know not to attempt it, however. I'm afraid it would go the way my seed-sprouting jar did and get pushed to the back of the pantry never to be used again.

I would love to read an artistic angst"y" piece, fiction or non, but I understand that even if you wrote it you might not want to put it out for public viewing.

Speaking of reading, I remember you were talking a while ago about books and how hard it was to find good diverting fiction. I am just starting Susan Meissner's latest book and I have read her "The Shape of Mercy". I wonder if you might like it. She reminds me of Linda Nichols, in that there is a plot AND character development. Not sure you would like a female author but I thought I might suggest it just in case.Hope T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07861626818618433758noreply@blogger.com
